International Day of the Midwife
MIDIRS marks this day with a competition for Health Care Professionals to win one of five subscriptions to the new monthly journal – find out more about the new publication here...
On Wednesday 5 May, UK maternity charity, MIDIRS, will join with midwives around the world in celebrating the International Day of the Midwife, an annual event which aims to highlight the knowledge and skills of this unique profession.
Andy Fisher, MIDIRS Business Manager, said ‘MIDIRS is firmly behind the aims of International Day of the Midwife. Not only is it a celebration of midwifery, but an opportunity to draw attention to the crucial work of midwives’.
‘Our own mission is to assist in the improvement of maternity care worldwide by providing access to evidence-based information, thereby supporting maternity health care professionals and student midwives in providing not only best practice, but compassionate and high quality care. This will hopefully go some way in helping to reduce child mortality and improve maternal health, two key UN Millennium Development Goals’.
-
To mark International Day of the Midwife, MIDIRS will be offering five health care professionals the chance to win a free, one year subscription to Essentially MIDIRS, the charity’s new monthly journal, due to be launched on 1 June 2010, which aims to provide a vital education and practice development resource to maternity health care professionals and student midwives.
-
The competition offers customers the opportunity to submit midwifery related questions of their choice to MIDIRS team of experts for potential publication within the regular ‘Ask Away’ section of the journal.
-
Those customers submitting the five best questions will be notified within a week of the closing date. Their questions and the answers will be published in future issues of the journal.
